We took the Old Fall River dirt road, and it was amazing. We got caught in an Elk jam with a momma and her 1 year old son in front of us. Gave her plenty of time and space to not startle them over the rocky, steep edge. Gorgeous scenery and lots of wildlife. Moose, elk, mule deer, etc.
We drove here from Arkansas only to learn that we need a reservation to enter the park. That is fine if we did not learn it before. However, as we were old by a guy at the gate and some signs placed there that a reservation is needed to enter between 9am-3pm, we came back at 3 pm to be allowed to buy a pass but not to enter Bear Lake area. Then we were told to make a reservation again to visit Bear Lake area. This is very disappointing.
We don’t usually travel to the same place more than once as this is a big ol world. We had, however, enjoyed our first visit to RMNP so much that we decided to come back a second time. The park is absolutely breathtaking! No photo or video you will ever see will do it justice, it’s something you must see for yourself. Be sure to take Old Fall River Road to the top if you’re not afraid of heights!, it’s unmatched!
Flew into Denver CO with my eldest daughter to meet my younger daughter. They are both in their thirties, not teenagers. We drove from outside Denver, where we are staying to Rocky Mountain National Park.Colorado really isn’t that pretty till you get near the mountains. But once you hit Estes Park, it’s a whole different thing!RMNP is a wonder to see and we spent the day seeing it. Well worth the drive and the walks.
Some of the most naturally unspoiled mountain range with tall peaks and spires and lush vegetation. The abundant granite rock is rich in a colors of red and brown. Go take a hike on one of the many hiking trails through the forest and get lost in nature. Due to elevation make sure you bring plenty of water.
It's a horrible service. You can not get the reservation, because there are no available tickets at all! If you can not plan your trip 2 months in advance then there is no chance to do your reservation! I haven't been able to get to the park for a year now, because of these rules!
Came out of state and drove all the the way to the Rocky Mountain park entrance to find out you need to reserve time slots to enter the park. I am a veteran and they would not allow us to enter and stated that the park was booked for the whole weekend. We traveled here mainly to visit the Rocky Mountains but we were very disappointed to learn they did not prioritize veterans. The park is HUGE so surely there wouldn’t been plenty of room.
