Plan before you go for the trip. Bus from Aomori allows you to stop at your prefered place so that you can hike up the stream. If you do not own a JR pass, it will be wise to buy the 5000yen pass where we can have unlimited travel to this place for 2 days.
Wonderful relaxing walk along a beautiful natural wonder. The sound of the rushing water and birds and smell of the foliage are veryy soothing. Just sitting by the waters edge and letting go of all the worldy worries is so easy while you walk along the stream. Well workth the drive and sometime crowds.
The 14 KM long Oirase Stream provides visitors a beautiful venue for walking particularly during autumn months. The views along the stream are breathtaking with colorful trees as background for photo-taking. Most visitors will not stroll along the whole stream because of time constraints. Hop on and off the bus along the stream might be an alternative to select the most beautiful sections for viewing but bear in mind to go through the time table for bus schedule. Highly recommended.
Choshi Otaki Waterfall should be regarded as the largest waterfall along the Oirase River. It was located at the halfway of the stream. The flow of water down to the lower level together with the different colored tree-leaves formed beautiful background for photo-taking. This is the "must see" tourist spot in the area. Highly recommended.
Kumoi no Taki Waterfall is probably the highest waterfall along the trail. Can see the waterfall from the roadside, but if you want a closer look at it or to get a closer photo with a mobile phone, you need to climb up a bit to reach it.
